Defeating Deferred Maintenance

About Us

David Tod Geaslin has worked in the maintenance area since 1957 and has been consulting in the management of operations and maintenance full time since 1988. The service was started when it was noticed that almost all forms of training and education in the tactile skills and management of maintenance vanished from our universities, colleges, and high schools in the 1970s. Also, it was during this period that the corner full service gas station began to vanish after the oil embargo of 1973 and nothing emerged in our society to replace the mechanical experience young people gained from working in that arena.

Courses were developed to give drivers and operators the knowledge they needed to safely operate their machines and participate in the maintenance of their assets.

The scope of the mechanical training kept expanding until comprehensive seminars and training was offered from the executive level down to the mechanic working on the floor of the shop.

The technical knowledge needed to conduct maintenance is very complicated and takes years to master the intricacies of maintaining aircraft, manufacturing, barges, tugboats, buildings, grounds, trucks, forklifts, cars, etc. However, the knowledge needed to manage the function of maintenance for these very complicated systems is the same across all asset types and can be mastered easily if certain organizational rules are followed. This is what The Geaslin Group teaches.

We teach with consulting, seminars, training, and hands-on coaching of the staff and workers to produce the lowest maintenance cost per unit of production possible. When this is achieved, reliability and operational efficiencies escalate very rapidly.
